A new Apple TV, capable of playing 4K content, may launch this year, according to a Bloomberg report.
This fifth-generation Apple TV, codenamed J105, will also offer “more vivid” colours, according to Bloomberg’s sources.
As for when in 2017 the new Apple TV will launch, it seems most likely that a new Apple TV box would launch in September alongside new iPhones and a new iOS operating system (as it’s likely that the new Apple TV will use new features in iOS 11 – read about iOS 11 here.) Mini PC News
However, the Apple TV first went on sale in March 2007, so a tenth anniversary launch in March 2017 would be pertinent.
While Apple tends to dislike historical wallowing – famously refusing to build a museum in its new headquarters because “we’re focused on the future, not the past” – we think there is a precedent for an anniversary product in the form of the Twentieth Anniversary Mac (number 4 in our article The 5 weirdest Macs of all time).
